Scaffold Shrink Wrap 150ft Super Yacht

Project: 50m Super Yacht Southampton.

The work was completed in just over 10 days with our method of scaffold shrink wrapping proving to be a faster and more effective solution than the previous shrink wrap containment used. It provides a drum tight fit with no more buffetting in the winds and effective weather proofing for the yacht restoration works.

The shape of the scaffolded structure was complex covering the differing heights of the yachts decks. Shrink wrapping allows for the effective containment of such complex structures in a way that other materials will not.

We worked closely with the client in the lead up to the project to understand and agree on a new approach to the shrink wrap of this yacht. This new system has successfully reduced the internal area that requires constant heating to achieve critical stable tempertaure and has helped reduce the ongoing fuel costs.

This shrink wrap containment now provides:

A safe working environment that can be kept to a controlled stable temperature and achieve the correct humidity levels required for works to be undertaken.

A clean and controlled area suitable for the new paint works to be undertaken.

An effective barrier preventing any chemicals and unwanted residue running into the dry dock and surrounding external environment.

Scaffold Shrink Wrap Temporary Roof, Cambridge University Library

This job involved scaffold shrink wrapping 3 temporary roofs over Cambridge University Library. The roofs were scheduled for repair works, major scale scaffold and temporary roofing was necessary to provide a safe and watertight working area for the works to be carried out.

Shrink Wrap UK was contracted to take on the shrink wrapping element of the scaffold erection. The project was split into 3 phases with 1 roof area being completed on each phase. A total area of over 2750 square metres of temporary roof was shrink wrapped.

Shrink Wrap UK supplied and installed a construction grade polythene scaffold shrink wrap system. Each roof averaged 3 days to shrink wrap proving to be a faster solution than tin roofing.

Scaffold Wraps

Scaffold Wrapping a fire damaged building.

From the smaller scale building restoration/improvement projects to large high rise buildings we have the experience required to deliver the excellence customers expect.  

This job involved a large listed building that had major fire damage and was exposed to the winter elements. The insurance company requested the building was to be made water tight. Shrink Wrap UK was contracted by Harsco Infrastructure to take on the shrink wrapping element of the scaffold erection. The gable ends and the mid section between the varying temporary roof heights were shrink wrappped ensuring no water penetration was possible.

Shrink Wrap UK supplied and installed a 190mi polythene wrap system. The work was completed in just 1.5 days, as with all our projects planning was in place to allow for any additional time required in the event of poor weather.
